HENDRA VIRUS POLICY

At this stage, I am still treating horses who are not vaccinated for Hendra Virus. Although I prefer if they are vaccinated!

If your horse has had a nasal discharge, cough, colic like symptoms, tiredness or been off their food in the last 7 days, please tell me. I may need to reschedule your appointment. Please be honest when disclosing your horse's vaccination status. I would rather be safe if you are not sure.

If these symptoms are seen, I may not treat your horse and you will be charged a travel fee.

I wear Personal Protective Equipment and use disinfectant, thoroughly cleaning all equipment between patients.

I am based in South Brisbane and see horses from Caboolture to Tallebudgera and as far west as Plainland.

Special trips can be arranged outside this area, please contact me to discuss.

Travel fees apply for greater than 30km distance, however I try to keep this very minimal.

A standard treatment consists of a full oral examination, report of problems, corrective filing and discussion with owner regarding treatment plan. Where necessary or requested, I am more than happy to advise on nutrition, bitting, worming program and general health.

The cost for a single horsestandard treatment is $125 inc GST.

Occasionally I see horses who need extensive filing to correct bite abnormalities or overgrowth of particular teeth. These will be quoted upon examination and may require additional visits to achieve optimal results.

Tetanus and Strangles Vaccines

As a Qualified Veterinary Nurse, I have the training and knowledge to administer intramuscular injections.

The cost is $60 + GST (including vaccine) and can be done at the same time as an annual dental treatment. Please contact me to discuss if this service is suitable for your horse.

If your horse is previously unvaccinated or vaccination status is unknown, they will require a follow up booster.

If you would like to take advantage of this handy service, please let me know at the time of booking so I can ensure I bring enough vaccines.

Bit Fitting

I am currently studying bit fitting with the International College for Professional Bit Fit Consultants in Holland.

Payment can be made by cash or bank transfer. I do not give accounts. Payment must be made on the day unless prior arrangement is made.
